Pricing (as of Jan 2025)

Initial Consultation: $60/45-min
Sessions are 45 mins in length.
Full hour sessions are $80, in person. Longer in person sessions are available, price is negotiable.
In person (45-min)
1 session per week $70/sess
2 sessions per week $65/sess
3-5 sessions per wk $60/sess
6-8 sessions per wk $50/sess
Zoom/Skype sessions (30-min)
$40 per session

Intensives (of more than 10 sessions per week) are negotiable depending on the number of sessions/month, and so long as paid in advance on a monthly basis.
Monthly payment in advance is preferred. All weekly lesson/session fees (Skype or in-person) must be paid in advance or by/before the start of each lesson week (in other words, on Monday or on/before the start of the first lesson day/night of the week).
CANCELLATIONS/CHANGES
Any and all cancellations or changes to scheduled weekly lessons REQUIRE 24-hour notice BEFORE the date and time of each or any scheduled lesson, in order to avoid forfeiture.
Punctuality for lessons is expected and mandatory. Unless communicated and agreed upon by client and teacher in advance, teacher is required to wait no more than 15 minutes into the scheduled lesson time before client forfeits the scheduled lesson in its entirety.
Make-up lessons may be arranged within the same week of the canceled or rescheduled lesson, at the convenience of the teacher.
Travel time of 30-min or more (to/from) any client requires a $15/way travel fee or $30/round-trip. Travel time of 1-hour or more (to/from) any client requires a negotiated travel fee based on the location, distance and time required for teacher.
Any and all parking, valet and attendance/entry fees are the responsibility of the client/student. Also, reasonable meals are the responsibility of the student for any lessons arranged for and taken at an “outside” location/venue, like a museum, art district, restaurant, street fair or any other party or event. Travel time fees also apply.
Day rates, Weekend rates, Weekly rates, and Travel rates are available as negotiated in advance for extended periods, for clients/students who require or desire assistance during work/travel, clinics/seminars or vacations abroad.

ABOUT ME
My name is Michael. I have spent over 15 years creating programs that really work!
You won't just speak English "out of a book" -- you will practice conversation, refine pronunciation, and learn to speak the popular words and phrases to suit your life situations and that best meet your specific needs.

When I arrived in Brasil in 2002, I had intended to spend all my time writing a
memoir about my life in New York City,
where I lived for more than 20 years.
Within months, I found myself using my English and Law degrees to teach business professionals, college/high school students, and retail workers both privately and via schools, independent language services,
and at corporations, like Castrol Oil.
​
I love teaching English, and I learned quickly the obstacles of my students and pitfalls of some programs, which had left many
dissatisfied with marginal results. From that moment, I started developing my own method for teaching English, based on my personal
experience as an American student from kindergarten through law school and on the job. Business, academic, creative, legal, advertising, musical -- I've worked with a variety of forms of the language, extensively and professionally.
​
I lived in South America, but my students span the globe, from Russia through Europe to Asia, and even as close to home as (French) Canada, to boot. While in New York, I worked with actors to help them lose their accents for auditions, while assisting others on improving dialects for certain roles. I understand the sounds we make, and know the drills and skills to improve them!
